In the face of a rapidly changing world and increasing technological and environmental challenges, the need to integrate the efforts of scientists, engineers and industry representatives is more urgent than ever. The PractiCORR conference on corrosion and fire protection provides a unique space to exchange experiences, share innovative ideas and build lasting partnerships for a better future. The Polish Corrosion Association, together with the European Federation of Corrosion, invites you to the conference, among other things, where we will jointly consider:
EDUCATION AND CONSCIOUS DESIGN
During the conference, we will put special emphasis on the issue of the conscious design of structures taking into account the need of anti-corrosion and fire protection.
ECOLOGY AS A CHALLENGE OF TODAY
We must not forget about the impact of our activities on the environment. Modern protection technologies must be in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. The conference provides a platform to discuss the ecological aspects of structural protection and seek solutions that minimize the impact on the planet, such as solvent-free coatings, low-VOC technologies or renewable raw materials.
DIFFICULT CHALLENGES OF THE PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY
Petrochemicals remain one of the most challenging application areas for protective technologies. Aggressive corrosive environments, extreme temperatures and high risk of fires require innovative solutions. Invited experts will present the latest research and success stories in this challenging field.
NEW CHALLENGES IN STRUCTURAL PROTECTION
Nuclear power development, energy storage, wind farm construction and other critical infrastructure structures are fields that require adapted protection strategies. These problems present challenges, but also opportunities for the development of breakthrough technologies. Conference participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest trends and innovations in these industries.

To meet these challenges, our goal is to bring the scientific and industrial communities together to design cutting-edge technologies for structural protection. Dr. Eng. Ewa Langer – Leader of the Paints and Polymers Research Group at Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Polymer Materials in Gliwice. Specialist in paint and polymer technologies, author of over 75 scientific publications and 9 patents. Winner of the Silesian Innovator 2022 award, lecturer and trainer, affiliated with the Silesian University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Institute IPA.
Gareth Hinds
Gareth Hinds is Senior NPL Fellow in the Electrochemistry Group at the National Physical Laboratory, United Kingdom. His primary expertise is in the development of novel in situ diagnostic techniques and standard test methods for assessment of corrosion and material degradation in energy applications. Gareth is the author of over 200 publications and is currently President of the European Federation of Corrosion and Immediate Past President of the World Corrosion Organization.
Jarosław Piekarski
Holds Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IPPT PAN.
Involved in programming of R&I agendas for industrial Technologies at national and European level.
Since 2007 National Contact Point for Industrial Technologies under FP7, Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, at present at NCBR, and nominated as a member of PL Delegation to Programme Committees of these Programs.
In 2012-2024 the member of Expert Group of EU Member States and Associated Countries on
Advanced Materials and the member of the Expert Group for National Smart Specialization No 8 on Multifunctional Materials and Components.

Since 2009, he has lectured at the Faculty of Chemistry, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and serves as CTO at M+M Inwestyn. His research focuses on materials engineering and numerical modeling (MD, DFT, CFD) of functional materials. Expert for NCBR and PARP, and board member of the Polish Corrosion Society.
